Foam Roofing Options

Roofing Options for Saving Energy !

Recently while researching a new roof for our home, I ran across some information on foam roofing systems. The concept was rather intriguing so I researched further. As it turns out foam roofing is not that new of a concept. Foam roofing has been used as an insulation material for nearly 50 years. However, it is gaining favor in light of everyone trying to save energy.

Unlike traditional roofing or shingles that are applied with a hammer and nail, foam roofing is sprayed on as a liquid making foam roofs seamless, waterproof and very durable. The fact is foam roofs can last indefinitely if properly maintained. The energy savings can be upwards of 30% or more. Foam roofing systems are definitely worth some research if you are in the market for a new roof.

Initially the cost of your foam roof will be higher than a traditional built-up roof however, your roof should pay for itself within 3 to 5 years. The good thing is that once the pride properly it is likely you will not ever have to worry about re-roofing either your home or office building again.

Make sure that if you choose a foam roof for your structure that is applied by professionals. There are a multitude of do-it-yourself kits for foam roofing and insulation. While there may be some people who are able to apply these spray foam roofs correctly or spray foam insulation correctly, preparation of the roof surface is paramount to a successful application.
